"The Image of Masculinity"

After attending The Image of Masculinity at the USC Fisher Museum Of Art last Wednesday, several key points I have noticed remain to stick in my thoughts from previous decisions we have had in our lectures. In several clips that Velasco shared in class on the bearded lady and a link that Diego posted regarding Gender playful Marketplace brings up the issue of a place of belonging. Panelist speaker Kai M. Green also touches on the topic of gender conflict in her identity. The fact that we have to choose and be specific about what we identify ourselves as (male or female) is sometime a difficult issue when you feel neither of these represents the category that can begin to BEST describe what you identify with. In "Genderplayful Marketplace" one of the speakers best puts it as "help us feel like ourselves", in a world with only two choices!
